The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph-Thomas Paine
I believe to succeed hinges off of our inability to quit even when we fail. No matter how thin the ice is, believe that you'll skate clean across before it gives. That's what separates us from the rest; persistence.
If you want to succeed, you'll find a way... every time. You live and breathe your goals, because you learn that failure doesn't mean you failed, it means you learnt another way to not do something.
Be tenacious, audacious and fearless in pursuit of your goals and ambition. No one else will pursue them for you, you are your own success team, your own sailor and cabin crew. You conceive the idea and you pursue it... You may not get it right the first time or a couple more times after that, understand that and you're half way there.
This is where I leave you: the going will be tough, you'll give up repeatedly and then find your way back to where you left off, it's expected. The one thing you should never do is quit. No matter how long it takes, as long as you're progressing, keep going.
