The Relentless March of Time

Time, the subtle thief of youth,
Steals moments with a quiet hand,
In the mirror’s truth, we see its proof,
Lines carved like footprints in the sand.

Once, we danced on fields of green,
Carefree laughter in the sun,
Now, those days are rarely seen,
Fading like the day is already done.

Innocence, a fleeting, forgotten dream,
Captured briefly, then it flies,
Time’s swift river, like a stream,
Carries youth to distant skies.

Wrinkles mark the stories told,
Silver threads weave through our hair,
Time, unrelenting, calm and cold,
Leaves its trace without a care.

Yet in the heart, a spark remains,
Echoes of the youthful fire,
Memories like soft refrains,
Whispering of our heart's desire.

Time, the thief, cannot erase,
The spirit’s glow, the soul’s embrace,
For though it marks our outer face,
Within, youth’s beauty finds its place.

So let us cherish every breath,
With grace, accept the passing years,
For time may bring us closer to death,
But it also deepens love and clears our fears.

This poem was inspired by a line from Frasier Crane (yes, from the show): “Time, the subtle thief of youth.” A quiet nod to how the passage of time often leaves its mark in the gentlest, yet most undeniable ways.
